Ford Galaxy 1998 Abs And Hand Brake Light On....

i have a 1998 ford galaxy (with 5 kids i need this car lol) the abs and handbrake light stays on constantly and knocks out my window wipers and heating could any one plz help my partner is good around a car but we have looked for a fault and cqant find one.

if abs light is on it would indicate one of your sensors or rings isnt working properly . i had a 1998 galaxy and ended up replacing three sensors over 2 and a half years . not that hard to do yourself , its just finding out which one is broken. as for the handbrake light check your brake fluid level, past that it could be summat more serious.

have just had a diagnostic check done on the car (as it failed mot on emmisions!!) that only put out about the secondary air injection pump and my lamber sensor was faulty..... both now fixed we have also done abs sensors hand brake fluid and new brakes all round and it still there??? its really confusing at first it was on and off but now it wont go off and when both lights are on i cannot use window wipers or heaters but thank you for advice i will get my partner to have another look at all the rings and sensors again

Hi my 96 Gal tdi also has them warning lights on for abs and handbrake the ford owners handbook says both lights on together means a fault with abs consult ford dealership, problem I have is my gal has not got abs !! Hope this Helps.

hi, have a 1999 galaxy tdi abs warning light always on, today taken it to hi q tyre/exhaust centre they put code reader on it but it wouldnt display anything

mot runs out next week ... help please  ?

To fault find abs you need vcds/vagcom. It will tell you which wheel is the problem ( or if its a more serious pump/controller failure)

 

Usually its a failed sensor or a broken/rusted sensor ring (both replaceable). You can do a basic check of an abs sensor by disconnecting them and checking with a multimeter to see if they are open circuit. Remove the wheel to gain access to the sensor, you can do a visual check for cable damage, or damage to to sensor ring.

 

Note that once you fix the problem, you have to run the car up to about 20mph before the abs light will go out.
